Chad Vangaalen

I am a huge fan of Chad Vangaalen and was fortunate enough to attend a gig of at the cooler in Bristol late last year. Vangaalens songs are self recorded and beautifully crafted blends of distorted guitars, melodic hooks and textures. His music for me is reminiscent to Neil Young and folk music but his raw and genuine sound is perhaps better defined by the Anti-folk genre. Not only does Vangaalen produce Music, he is also a talented animator and has produced his own animated music videos. The strong sense of narrative in Vangaalens songs lend themselves perfectly to animation "Molten Light" is one such song that has been animated. Both song and animation seem to coexist so harmoniously, afterwards it becomes hard to hear the song without imagining the world created in the video,
